Tuba City Pictures -- Sept. '03

Back to Tuba City now... I stopped to check out Coal Mine Canyon first -- it's only about 15 miles from Tuba and down a short dirt road.
"The cracked floor....." (long story -- I found this right by Coal Mine Canyon though)
Here's the rug I bought from my new friend Lorraine...
Another of Lorraine's creations -- this is the one Monica bought!
Okay, moving along to a barbeque the next weekend at Lorraine's ranch -- here she is making tortillas
Alvina tending the fire (she also works at the clinic)
Sally keeping an eye on the corn (or is that an ear? <g>)
Some of the docs and nurses from the hospital
This was the tortilla I tried to make -- apparently there's an art to making them round!
A couple more of the family docs
Dinner's almost ready...
Monica's car had a pretty fun trip down a muddy dirt road on her way to come visit me -- she came to Tuba 'cause I was on call and stuck there.
There are dinosaur tracks all over around there, but some in particular with Navajo guides to show you around -- just a couple miles from Tuba and (hopefully) within pager range, so we went there while I was on call!
Monica comparing hand sizes...
Okay, me too!
Here's our guide, standing on what he said was a piece of petrified dinosaur poo.
Okay, it looks the part...
Back at the clinic -- on my last day the nurses threw me a party! Here's Linda in the break room
Lorraine brought all the fixin's for Navajo tacos!
Laverne
Marcia
The beginnings of a Navajo taco...
Nelson
Almost done...
Lunch is ready!
Drs. Kandel and Adams
Before I left, Lorraine showed me her loom -- there are 2 rugs on it that she's working on at the moment...
A closer view -- I really liked the one in the front here and put a deposit on it! When it comes in the mail I'll take a picture of the finished product for comparison!
Just thought this part looked cool.
Even closer view!
Here's Lorraine with another rug she made
basket of yarn...
